We are excited to announce Team Hummingbird’s participation in the Brighton Half Marathon on 25th February 2024!
We are the Hummingbird Refugee Project, a Brighton-based youth-centred charity aiding young refugees in Sussex. We provide specialist trauma support, advocate for refugee rights, provide educational assistance, and host a weekly social club that welcomes young people from around the world.
Our team of 10 dedicated runners is coming together to make a difference in the lives of local young refugees, and we need your support. By running this half marathon, Team Hummingbird aim to raise £5,000 to support our organisation’s vital work.

You will undoubtedly be aware that the level of hostility towards refugees from the government has been growing significantly over this last year. We have seen extremely cruel anti-refugee laws brought into place, which have led to the biggest regression on protections for refugees that we have seen.
Nevertheless, alongside this we have also seen incredible displays of solidarity, people power and collective action. We want to thank our for your part in that, and your continued support for our organisation and the young people we work alongside. Your solidarity sends a strong message to all, and it is very much felt by those affected by the hostility.
